________________________________
It's our 5th annual Dogfest, a
fabulous day of fun for families with dogs, and a unique opportunity for adoptable pets to find their way into the hearts and homes of people who will love and appreciate them.

We're once again at the newly-renovated park in Westwood that connects with Brookside, a popular county park, via a marvelous paved walkway through the cool, shady forest. The Brookside part has tennis courts, ball fields, pavilions, a playground, and a lovely lake.

Westvale Park has ballfields, a playground, and a set of doggy playgrounds, one for large dogs and one for small dogs.

Everything else remains the same: Guest speakers, adoptable dogs, great vendors and our fun 'n' games for the visiting dogs.
And some very special guests!

Ruth, Hugo and Jessie, who now live in West Palm Beach, FL, and have this message for all dog lovers: Don't miss this year's Dogfest! Your support and good will mean the world to all of us, both two- and four-legged!!

Greetings from Jessie!

Jessie is Open Doors' poster girl. She is the inspiration behind both Dogfest and Pets & Heroes. She's slowing down now (an octogenarian in people years), and is retiring in West Palm Beach, FL. She will continue to visit nursing homes there and finally do the sequel to her book.

Highlights of the Day!
50/50's All Day

Win prizes!  Sign up for contests at the Open Doors tent.

Musical Sits
- Round and round you go.  Last dog to sit when the music stops goes.  The remaining dog wins!

Most Appropriate Name - What's in a name?  Actually a lot!  Does your pet have the perfect name?  This is the contest for you!

One of a Kind! - Slight underbite? big jowls?  We are looking for the truly unique.  Do you have the most unusual dog at Dogfest?

Best Kisser - This one goes without saying.  The biggest, wettest kiss wins!

Dudes and Divas - Can your dog strut their stuff?  We are looking for the pair who can walk the walk.

My Amazing Dog!
- Does your dog know a really cool trick?  Share it with us and see if you can win the Amazing dog competition.

Reverse Limbo
- Every Limbo boy and Limbo girl jump across the limbo pole.  In a new twist we are going to see just how high you can go.

Canine Look-alikes - They say couples who have been married a long time start to look alike.  We want pets and people who look alike in this contest.

Canine Idol - Can your canine rock the house?  For a howling good time bring us those pups who are hitting the high notes!

Nikita now in 2013
Meet Nikita...
Rob and Nancy Good of Westwood are often stopped by people who want to know where they got such a beautiful, sweet dog.  They are  proud to announce: Dogfest.
Nikita used to be Pearl.  A dog, abandoned by her owner, in a high kill gassing facility.  One of our wonderful rescue groups brought her to NJ for a second chance at life.

Nikita/Pearl in 2012

Rob and Nancy saw her watching the crowds, searching for that one special family, and fell instantly in love.  Many would think that Pearl is the lucky one but Rob and Nancy would disagree.  Not only did they adopt the sweetest, most wonderful dog but they have also met so many nice people who stop to admire the beautiful Nikita.  Rob and Nancy shared with us that "We feel so blessed that she has come into our lives."

Look who's coming to DogFest this year...
